Vein Onyx is a translucent natural calcareous stone that is cut perpendicular to the natural vein structure using a technique called vein-cut slicing. This cutting method exposes dramatic flowing vein patterns within each slab, allowing consecutive slabs to be book-matched for mirror-image symmetry in large wall installations.

Premium Vein Onyx is quarried primarily in Iran and Turkey. Iranian quarries produce the most pronounced vein patterns suitable for book-matched installations, with secondary production from Mexico and Pakistan. The vein-cut technique is most effective when applied to onyx with prominent natural banding.

Vein Onyx is most commonly produced in polished finish to maximise vein visibility and translucency. Honed finish is available on request for clients preferring a softer matte surface. Sandblasted and brushed finishes are reserved for specific decorative panels and may reduce light transmission through the slab.
